Resilience vs. Giving Up: How to Transform Pain and Despair into Strength and Purpose
Have you ever felt like you don’t belong in this world? As if your soul is screaming for something more, but everything around you seems to suppress it? I’ve been there too, and today, I want to share how I journeyed from the depths of despair to the heights of resilience, and how I found a purpose that changed my life. If you’ve ever felt like giving up, this article is for you.
This isn’t just my story—it’s a message of hope for anyone who’s ever felt lost, misunderstood, or on the brink of surrender.
My Story
From a young age, I felt like an alien in this world—surrounded by people who couldn’t see what I saw or feel what I felt. My sensitivity to energy and esoteric experiences made me feel different. I often struggled to understand why the world seemed so selfish and violent, why everything appeared to be a sacrifice. That deep pain I carried in my chest felt like a constant companion.
I was too empathetic, often overwhelmed with sadness when something happened to my loved ones—or even when I saw animals suffering. The worst part was the helplessness I felt in those moments. I remember crying for weeks when someone was in pain or when my heart ached for an abandoned animal.
But I also remember telling myself, “You should be stronger to help others. If they’re suffering, you can help them.” Many days, the only thing that could stop the pain was praying—praying so deeply to God and the angels, asking for strength. And as if by magic, I would feel the pain fade, even if just for a while.
The Invisible World Around Us
This struggle led me to deepen my connection with spirituality, where I found something—or someone—that listened. Through meditation, self-reflection, and Reiki, I sought answers. But as I became more attuned to the spiritual realm, I also grew more detached from the material world. I started rejecting consumerism and materialism, and at times, I even questioned whether life was worth living.
Suicidal thoughts crept in as my faith in humanity diminished. I felt the urge to give up, thinking, I want to help, but I see nothing worth living for. I remember feeling like I didn’t want to wake up the next day… (It’s like the moment in The Fifth Element when Bruce Willis’s character says, “I’m tired of fighting.”)
But each time these thoughts arose, the universe intervened. Whether it was a call from a friend, someone knocking on my door, or even a pigeon flying into my kitchen at a crucial moment, something always pulled me back.
I realized that my spiritual guides were looking out for me, and deep inside, something whispered: Don’t give up, you’re here for a reason. Even on days when the pain was so deep that the only option was to go to sleep and hope for a better tomorrow, I knew I wasn’t alone.
My Intuition: The Compass of My Purpose
One particular night, as I was cooking at home, my intuition became a literal lifeline. I was preparing dinner, listening to music, and about to watch a movie when suddenly, the name of a friend I had recently met kept repeating in my mind. It was almost as if her name was being whispered directly into my ear.
I felt an urgent need to text her. How are you doing? I asked.
She replied almost immediately: she wasn’t feeling well, feeling sad, and didn’t know how to feel better. I don’t remember all the details of that conversation, but I do remember telling her to focus on the good things in her life, practice forgiveness, and sent her a meditation I loved—specifically, Ho'oponopono, which I found to be deeply healing.
That night, I went on with my evening. For me, it was just another day. But a year later, when I visited her again, she told me something that left me speechless. She thanked me for reaching out that night because, at the time, she had been on the verge of ending her life. My message had saved her. “Thanks to you, my child still has a mother,” she said.
I was in shock. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that my simple act of reaching out could have such a profound impact.
When Purpose Becomes the Driving Force of Life
That moment changed everything for me. I realized two crucial things: First, I wasn’t alone in feeling the way I had felt. Second, the power of intuition and connection with the universe was real—and it was guiding me. I told myself, If I can help one person, I can help more. I’m here for a purpose, and that purpose is to share how to navigate sadness, apathy, and despair.
I finally embraced the truth: my soul had chosen this path. I had to see the world from a higher perspective, like an eagle soaring above the ground, gaining clarity and understanding.
Meditation helped me reconnect with my core. Bioneuroemoción® healed my perception of the world. Reiki, flower remedies, and alchemical gems helped heal the deep pain I carried. And when I saw these practices work for me, I felt an overwhelming desire to share them with others. That’s when I found my purpose in helping others heal.
When the Flame of Resilience Ignites
I transformed my despair into a mission: to leave a legacy of change, showing that by shifting our perception and finding our purpose, we can transform our lives. That’s when resilience began to rise within me.
My journey has not been easy, and it continues to challenge me. But everything I’ve experienced has shaped who I am today. Even now, when I see selfishness and violence in the world, I still feel sadness and doubt. But I no longer let it consume me. I know my WHY. I know I’m here to help shift the perception of this world for future generations, and that mission keeps me going.
If you feel lost or stuck, remember this: there is a purpose to your existence. Shift your perception, discover your purpose, and resilience will follow. The universe has a plan for each of us—it’s up to us to embrace it. Keep moving forward. Change is possible. Your story isn’t over. This world needs your presence and your light.
Tools and Resources for Resilience
To help you in your journey, I want to share a few tools that may be useful:
Ho'oponopono Meditation: This ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness involves taking responsibility for everything that occurs in your life. Through the simple mantra, “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you,” you can heal emotions and relationships.
Logging Resilience Successes: Reflect on past challenges you’ve overcome. By remembering what you’ve conquered, you’ll see your inner strength and know that you’re capable of facing whatever comes next.
Gratitude Lists: Write down three things you're grateful for each day. Gratitude shifts focus from despair to appreciation, reinforcing resilience.
Accountability Partners: Find someone to help you stay accountable to your goals. Sharing your journey with someone else can prevent isolation and overwhelm.
Joining Communities: Surround yourself with others on a similar path. Support from like-minded people can help nurture resilience.
A Challenge for This Week
Here’s a key phrase for the week: “In serving others, we discover the strength within ourselves.”
I encourage you to practice resilience through service. Here are some simple exercises:
Daily Acts of Kindness: Commit to performing at least one act of kindness each day. Even small gestures can build resilience.
Volunteering: Find a cause you care about and give your time. Service to others can amplify your sense of purpose.
