When We Clean Up Our Lives, We Make Space for New Things to Arrive
Waning Moon in Leo
We start the week with the waning moon in Leo—a very interesting and intense week. Last week, I shared the meaning of the full moon and how, during that period, we can observe results and manifestations, whether they come as cosmic gifts or lessons.
The waning moon is the phase that follows the manifestation. It’s the moment life gives me to reflect on all that I’ve received and to rejoice in my harvest—or, alternatively, to assess the damage. It’s a time to make adjustments. If those results have satisfied me, I take the opportunity to organize myself and prepare for the next phase, which will be the new moon, a time to set new commitments and goals.
Time for Reflection and Adjustments
If, on the other hand, the results I got don’t align with what I expected, this phase invites me to review, adjust, clean, and organize, observing what might have gone wrong and why I didn’t receive what I was hoping for.
The waning moon brings intense energy because, often, I react with anger or feel frustrated by how things turned out. And if that’s the case, I miss the lesson life wants to show me and fail to take responsibility for those results. After all, I’m the one creating my reality.
Leo
In the case of this week’s waning moon, it’s intense because it’s happening in Leo—a fire sign we’ve been working with a lot these past months. Leo represents our creative inner child. So, most likely, the situations we face will show us how much we’ve been working on our self-care and creative expression, as well as how well we’ve applied the lessons Venus taught us between August and September.
End of Eclipse Season
Additionally, this moon marks the end of eclipse season. Yes, I know the eclipses already happened, but the season doesn’t officially close until the next new moon, which is next week. So, this week, we may still receive signals and unexpected events related to what the eclipses have shown us.
The invitation remains the same: to close cycles and let go of what we no longer want to keep in our lives to make room for new things to arrive. Buuut… if I haven’t done the work of defining my goals and knowing where I want to go, how will I know what to let go of and what to keep?
The Hero’s Journey
In previous articles, I mentioned this journey and its stages. Last week, I talked about the importance of finding a Mentor and how it’s crucial to have a clear goal for that; I also explained that crossing the Threshold is necessary but often difficult because of the Siren Songs that try to distract us. Still, if I’m very sure of where I want to go, I can endure the discomfort and keep walking…
6. Tests, Allies, and Enemies
Tests
When we begin walking toward the life we desire, tests will always arise. And if my goal isn’t clear enough, it’ll be easier to lose my way. These tests are nothing more than my own fears being projected outward. They might take the form of people saying things I’m trying to suppress inside myself, situations challenging me to see how committed I am to my goal and purpose, or even close people who don’t believe I can achieve it.
The magnitude of these tests can increase as I get closer to my goal. It’s up to me to see them as opportunities to refine my skills and prepare for the final confrontation that lies ahead. This training is essential for the hero to reach their destination triumphantly.
If you want to climb a mountain, don’t you need to train, prepare your body, mind, and spirit, learn the route, and gather all the supplies you’ll need? It’s the same with anything you want to achieve—you have to prepare…
In my story, I told you how I faced several Siren Songs, which ultimately gave me the push I needed to embark on a transformative journey. But before leaving, I decided where I wanted to go, what I could do there, how to obtain the necessary documents, and, of course, how to fulfill my purpose of helping the world. Life showed me the way, but I had to take the steps—and I did. I found an organization of young people wanting to change the world, and I joined them.
But that’s my story, and yours might not look the same. Maybe you have no interest in traveling at all, and that’s perfectly fine. The concept is much simpler: you can apply this to anything you want to do. So, I ask you: in what situations are you not standing firm in your opinions or desires? What situations distract you and pull you away from your purpose, whatever it may be?
Allies
While there are always Siren Songs, allies also show up. These are the people who give me strength and courage to move forward, who support the decisions I want to make—even if they don’t fully agree—because they know it will be good for me or because they see I’m determined to live that experience. They’ll accompany me emotionally, no matter what.
At the same time, allies also confront and challenge me when they see I’m straying from my path, doing things that don’t align with my values or goals, or getting too full of myself and thinking I’m too special.
I had many allies on my journey—people who didn’t always agree with everything I wanted to do but still supported me, provided resources when I needed them, and challenged me when I was tempted to abandon my adventure.
Sometimes, we can even confuse things and think we have an ally when, in reality, they’re a Siren Song. Remember, an ally will always support you and help you stay on your path if they see you’re absolutely certain of your purpose. Who are your allies in your journey? Is there someone you thought was an ally but might actually be more of a Siren Song?
Enemies
Far from what we might think about this word, an enemy is a very precious treasure. They’re the character that appears in our lives to block our path, threaten us, and try to stop us from reaching our goal.
A hero who works on themselves and knows themselves well understands that the enemy in front of them is nothing more than their own shadow. It’s an internal projection manifesting outward so they can see and accept it. And if they have the humility and courage, they can use that reflection to understand themselves better and integrate that shadow into their life.
As Goethe said: “Our friends teach us what we can do; our enemies teach us what we must do.”
Next week, I’ll continue sharing more about this hero’s journey.
